Some of our users experienced SIM contacts duplicated, contacts with empty phone numbers, missing contacts and jumbled contacts. Also in Whatsapp, contacts are also named incorrectly.
DUPLICATE CONTACTSIn this example, the user was using a Nokia phone previously. He used the group contacts feature in Nokia, where he grouped the contact “Daddy1″ into the group “Family”. On a nokia phone, it will read as Daddy1 – Family. However, when this SIM card is used in iNO android phone, it is read as Daddy1 ¿ (See picture on the left).
This contact will corrupt the entire phone book causing duplicate and jumbled contacts.
Solution:
Step 1)
Only by deleting the contact will solve it. Editing/Renaming the contact doesn’t help.
Go through the entire phonebook contacts and ensure that there are no special characters in the names. Also remove chinese characters and # from the names as well from the SIM card.
Step 2)
Go through SIM contacts and ensure that each SIM contact have 1 phone number. If it has more than 1 phone number, you have to delete the other phone numbers.
Easy Solution:
Copy all contacts from SIM to Google Account and delete all SIM contacts. Use Google account as the main address book.
